Thien Hau pagoda

Not too far from the center city of Saigon, Thien Hau pagoda is one of the oldest pagodas in Saigon in which they worship Thien Hau Thanh Mau. She is from Fujian, China, and Chinese Vietnamese community thought of her as the God of Ocean. People told different fairy tail stories  about her but there is one story that makes her become the God of Ocean. When she was born, she had a very bright aura around her and she had a beautiful and nice body smell-like. When she grew older, she could fly through the oceans and skies. After her death, people saw her still flying above the oceans to save lives and since then, every time people have accidents or dealt with hardships out of the oceans, they would worship and praise her to save those people. Thien Hau pagoda was built in 1760 by a group of Chinese immigrating to Vietnam with a hope to protect them from difficulties in this new land. Since then, Thien Hau pagoda has become the place to meet of many Chinese Vietnamese. This place has a significant Chinese structure from the designs to the materials. There are many antique decors which are from the 18th century to 20th century. It is an interest place to stop by if you are into Chinese architectures and yes, it is free to visit.
