Linh Mu pagoda

Linh Mu pagoda was built during the reign of Nguyen Hoang in 1601, 5km from the West of Hue city. Linh Mu pagoda is also known for a different name, Thien Mu pagoda and it was originally built with a great structure. The Emperor has ordered to build a massive bell of the weight of more than 2 tons, called Dai Hong Chung. In 1714, there are more structures added to the temple such the main hall, Thien Vuong hall, Dai Hung hall, etc but unfortunately some of them no longer exist. With its natural beauty and the great wide structures, Linh Mu pagoda becomes the most alluring pagoda around the mid-area of Vietnam at that time. The very famous symbolization of Linh Mu pagoda is Phuoc Duyen tower with the height of 21m including 7 floors. The tower is built in 1844, each story has Buddha statue with spiral stairs connecting the stories. There is a big storm in 1904 that destroyed the pagoda, many temples and structures have been damaged. In 1907, it was rebuilt but the size is smaller than it was before. Although Linh Mu pagoda has gone through many replacements and rebuilds, it still shows the very unique beauty with the elegant garden and the peaceful resting place of the resident superintendent who has dedicated his entire life for helping others.
